PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
